About the Awards
Enabling Companies To Reconnect With Their Clients
This free awards program was created back in 2006 and was originally designed to stimulate the conference and events sector by encouraging participants to actively promote themselves throughout the year.
This year the Corporate Events Guide is giving back to Variety – The Children's Charity to help Kiwi kids who are sick, disabled and disadvantaged.
It's our plan this year to raise as much money as possible through our long standing "People's choice awards".
The Golden Koru People's Choice Awards are highly regarded within the Conference and Events industry with in New Zealand. The Awards night always provides some great networking, fun and entertainment as well as the opportunity to give back to the community through Variety, plus if your company becomes a Finalist, you could be in with a shot at taking home the prestigious Golden Koru Award for your Category.
Simply by participating in this year's People Choice Awards your company will not only be recognised for its achievement within the industry, it will also be helping to raise money for charity, as for every vote cast, the Corporate Events Guide will donate 10 cents to Variety – The Children's Charity. Since 1989 Variety has gifted over $12 million in grants - from medical needs to mobility equipment to scholarships for talented Kiwi kids.
The People's Choice Awards evening is always a calendar highlight! And this year 100% of the profit will be donated to Variety - The Children's Charity to help Kiwi kids, so this event is a must!

How to get the most out of your participation in the awards?
As a participant in the Golden Koru's People's Choice Awards, the onus is on you to ensure that your valued customers and key clients are aware of your involvement. We recommend you follow the steps below in order to maximize your results in the awards process:
Step 1:
Simply ask your webmaster to place your 'Vote For Us' link, supplied by the Corporate Events Guide, prominently on your website. This will link through to your own specific voting page which has been created for you.
Step 2:
You can also place your unique voting link on your email signature, this way every email you send is working for you by promoting your organisation, adding value and raising awareness and helping to increase voting for both you and Variety – the children's charity.
Step 3:
Your unique voting link can be placed anywhere. Got a Facebook or Myspace profile? You can raise further awareness by adding the link here as well!
Step 4:
How about announcing your involvement in the Peoples Choice Awards in a press release? Press releases are a fantastic (and free) method of encouraging other media channels to promote your company for you.
Every vote you receive will be stored in your client admin area and will also generate a confidential email response sent to you automatically; this enables you to actively monitor feedback about your company.

How many categories & companies are involved?
This year's nominations are broken down into 38 individual categories ranging from Best Nationwide Convention Centre to Best Nationwide Corporate Gifts. The number of nominees can vary per category.
General voting closes on 30 September at which time the five finalists from each category will be informed. All finalists will then be given a one week voting extension in the awards, which enables them to let their clients know that they are in the top five and have a final promotion push.
The finalists are determined by the quantity and quality of the votes received in comparison to their fellow nominees e.g.
1 Point per Vote = @hotmail.com, @yahoo.com, @gmail.com etc.
2 Points per Vote = @samplecompany.com, @governmentcompany.com, @eventscompany.com etc.
All voting will close on the 7 October.

How Do We Ensure That The Voting Is Fair?
The clever clogs here at the Corporate Events Guide I.T Department has built a very sophisticated automated voting system that is focused not only on fair play, but it also allows companies to view all of the wonderful votes that they are receiving throughout the year.
The automated voting system will not register any votes that fall outside the following guidelines:
Voting Validity:
Individuals can only vote for a company once, this is determined by your unique email address. The system will reject and report any counts of multiple vote attempts from the same email account.
After placing a vote, a verification email will be sent to the voters supplied email address requesting verification. Only when the email is verified will a vote be recorded.
When voting, the supporting statement must be a minimum of 30 characters long. The system will reject statements under 30 characters and request that you extend your statement. The supporting statements may only be used by the company being voted for; these statements will be recorded in their client admin area.

You will need to activate your voting link with us? Please follow these simple steps in order to do so.
Step 1. Ask your webmaster to place your voting link that we have sent to you prominently on your website. This will link through to your own specific voting page which has been created for your company.
Step 2. Once you have proudly placed your voting link onto your website, please contact us in order to activate your free website listing and personalised admin area.
Can I View Who Has Voted For Me So Far?
Yes, of course. All of your votes are stored in your personalised client admin area.
